Day 35: The Andersons

May 15, 2014
13 miles
478 miles

After a wonderful sleep last night we got up and moving a bit later than planned. We hit the trail around 7, it was already getting warm. We were excited about our midday siesta plans. We hiked a good 5 miles and hit the Oasis Water Cache. There a lovely Pepsi had my name on it. It was delicious, and the chairs were great. Arctic had a Natty Ice, 9 am was a great time for first brew.

From there we pushed on. We saw a few amazing “national geographic” type things. The first a small snake eating a huge rat, the second a sweet little lizard.

After a few more miles we reached the road. There was a fire last year that closed a section of trail. So we decided to hit up Casa de Luna for the evening. First we stopped and got ice cream and snacks. The ice cream was so delicious on such a hot day. I was happy to be done for the day. My brain was fried in the heat.

And then we reached Casa de Luna. It was great to relax and enjoy the company of other great hikers. I even found a wonderful brew at the convince store from a small brewery in NH.. It was delicious and made fr a lively afternoon.
